Common Signs of Vitamin Deficiencies

A vitamin deficiency is a dangerous thing. In order to sustain optimum health your body needs many different vitamins and minerals. Lacking almost any vitamin A through Z can create complications.

Tragically, because of bad diets, most people have some kind of vitamin deficiency. While this may not lead to the dramatic malnutrition that you see in many videos for charitable causes, it does wage a war of attrition on your body. You could actually develop serious organ damage, immune system problems and eventually death if you have vitamin deficiencies.

But how can you know if you are getting enough of every vitamin on the list? Most think that a daily vitamin is good enough. Daily vitamins are not all the same. They absolutely must be tailored to your personal needs. Just because you take a daily vitamin does not mean that you are safe from having a vitamin deficiency.

Thankfully, there are many “red flags” that can indicate vitamin deficiencies. Without knowing the signs of a vitamin deficiency, you might blame it on something else. You should look at the list below. You could be experiencing some minor effects of a vitamin deficiency if you meet any of the following criteria.

1. Your skin has become incredibly dry
If you skin is dry and flaky this could indicate a number of deficiencies. This is particularly likely to be a sign if you develop these issues any time after your mid-twenties.

2. You catch a cold every winter
For many people, their winter cold is an annual event. It shouldn’t be this way. If you get a cold every year as the weather gets chilly, you might have a mild problem with your immune system. Most of the time your body should be able to fight these colds off.

3. Your hair and fingernails have become very brittle
So many vitamin deficiencies can cause breakage in nails and hair. If you are always battling hang nails and/or split ends, you could have a problem

4. Loss of hair
Genetics or bad nutrition can cause your hair to fall out. Don’t freak out, instead check out some better options like a new daily vitamin supplement. The chances are very good.

As you grow older, you body can no longer use the foods in your everyday diet to meet your nutritional needs. All you need to do is give your body the “ready-made” fuel it needs. This is the best and most effective way to deal with a vitamin deficiency once you have spotted it.
